Overview

Begin your private shore excursion with a convenient pickup directly from Akita Port. Travel in the comfort of your own private vehicle. Unlike a large group tour, there is no need to keep pace with other travelers, allowing you to enjoy each destination comfortably and at your own pace.

Start at Kubota Castle Ruins in Senshu Park, located in the heart of Akita City. Explore the former castle grounds and enjoy a relaxing walk through the park while discovering the history of the Satake clan, who ruled the Akita Domain from Kubota Castle during the Edo period.

Continue to Tenno Green Land, a spacious roadside station and recreational area surrounded by the rural scenery of Akita. Enjoy a short break before continuing toward the Oga Peninsula.

Next, visit the Namahage Museum, where you can discover the unique Namahage tradition of Oga through an impressive collection of masks and costumes from communities throughout the peninsula. Continue to nearby Shinzan Shrine, a historic shrine surrounded by towering cedar trees and closely connected with the Namahage tradition.

After experiencing Oga’s traditional culture, continue to Cape Nyudo, located at the northern tip of the Oga Peninsula. Enjoy the dramatic coastal scenery and panoramic views of the Sea of Japan while taking time for lunch at a local restaurant in the area. Depending on the restaurant and availability, you may have the opportunity to enjoy fresh seafood and other local specialties.

If time permits, make a final stop at Port Tower Selion near Akita Port. Take the elevator to the observation deck, located 100 meters above the ground, and enjoy panoramic views over Akita Port, the city, and the Sea of Japan.

After exploring the historical, cultural, and scenic highlights of Akita and the Oga Peninsula, return comfortably to Akita Port in time for your ship’s departure.
