Miyazaki Aburatsu : Obi Castle Town & Udo Shrine – 6H
Overview
Begin your private shore excursion from Aburatsu Cruise Port and travel comfortably in your own private vehicle. Start in the historic Obi Castle Town, once home to the Ito clan. Stroll through streets lined with traditional buildings, explore the former castle grounds, and experience the atmosphere of one of Kyushu’s best-preserved castle towns. You can also try Shihan-mato, a traditional local style of Japanese archery.
Continue to Udo Shrine, dramatically located inside a cave along the Nichinan Coast. Walk along the scenic approach overlooking the Pacific Ocean, visit the unusual cliffside shrine, and try the popular undama stone-throwing tradition for good luck.
On the return journey, stop at the historic Aburatsu Red Brick Building, a reminder of Aburatsu’s prosperous past as a port town, before returning to Aburatsu Cruise Port.
Before the tour, you will receive an English digital guidebook with information about the itinerary and each sightseeing location. The driver speaks Japanese, and communication will be assisted by a translation device.
