Overview

Begin your private shore excursion with a convenient pickup directly from Shingu Port. Travel in the comfort of your own private vehicle. Unlike a large group tour, there is no need to keep pace with other travelers, allowing you to enjoy each destination comfortably and at your own pace.

Your first destination is Kumano Nachi Taisha Grand Shrine, one of the three grand shrines of Kumano and an important pilgrimage destination on the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range. Located on the mountainside of Nachi, the shrine offers a beautiful combination of traditional architecture and surrounding forest scenery.

Continue to the neighboring Seiganto-ji Temple, a historic Buddhist temple closely connected with Kumano Nachi Taisha. Enjoy the famous view of the brilliant red Three-Story Pagoda with Nachi Falls in the background, one of the most iconic landscapes in Wakayama.

Next, visit Nachi Falls, one of Japan’s most impressive waterfalls. With a single uninterrupted drop of approximately 133 meters, Nachi Falls is the tallest single-drop waterfall in Japan and has been worshipped as a sacred natural site for centuries. Take time to enjoy the spectacular scenery and the powerful atmosphere of the waterfall.

Afterward, travel back toward Shingu and visit Kumano Hayatama Taisha Grand Shrine, another of the three grand shrines of Kumano. This important Shinto shrine has deep historical connections with the origins of the Kumano faith and is surrounded by a peaceful, traditional atmosphere.

After exploring Hayatama Taisha, relax during the drive back to Shingu Port, arriving with sufficient time to continue your cruise journey.

Before your tour, you will receive an English audio guide and digital guidebook, downloadable to your own device, with information about the itinerary and each sightseeing location.
