Overview

Begin your private shore excursion with a convenient pickup directly from Tsuruga Port. Travel in the comfort of your own private vehicle. Unlike a large group tour, there is no need to keep pace with other travelers, allowing you to enjoy each destination comfortably and at your own pace.

Begin at Kehi Jingu Shrine, one of the most important historic shrines in the Hokuriku region and known for its impressive vermilion torii gate.

Continue through the mountains of Fukui to Eiheiji, one of Japan’s most important Zen Buddhist temples. Before entering the temple, enjoy time in the traditional temple town, where shops and restaurants line the approach to Eiheiji.

Explore the atmospheric temple complex of Eiheiji, founded in 1244 by Zen master Dogen. Surrounded by cedar-covered mountains, the temple remains an active center of Soto Zen Buddhism, with monks continuing their religious training today.

After returning to Tsuruga, if time permits, visit the historic Tsuruga Red Brick Warehouse and take a short walk through the waterfront Kanegasaki Green Space before returning to your ship.

The driver speaks Japanese, and communication will be assisted by a translation device. Before the tour, you will receive an English digital guidebook and audio guide that you can download to your own device. Pre-tour customer support is available in English.
