Overview

Start at Uwajima Castle, one of Japan’s twelve surviving original castle keeps. Walk through the historic castle grounds and climb to the original three-story keep, where you can experience the atmosphere of a traditional Japanese castle and enjoy views over Uwajima City.
Continue to Yusu Mizugaura Terraced Fields, a remarkable cultural landscape overlooking the Uwa Sea. Built on steep hillsides using countless stone walls, these terraced fields reflect generations of local farming traditions and the unique relationship between the people of Uwajima and their coastal environment.
Next, visit Nanrakuen Garden, a spacious traditional Japanese landscape garden centered around two large ponds. Stroll through peaceful scenery inspired by mountains, villages, towns, and the sea, with seasonal flowers and plants creating a different atmosphere throughout the year.
If time permits, stop at Roadside Station Uwajima Kisaiya Hiroba before returning to the port. Browse local products and souvenirs or discover some of Uwajima’s regional specialties.
